GTA: San Andreas has an unlock-able porn portion in the game.
The funny thing is the news reported on it and even pointed out the name of the .rar file needed to do it(link NWS obviously). They're blaming Rockstar for a mod that is posted on the Internet that allows people to see the CGI people naked. Of course no one believes it wasn't already in the game that way. They're still trying to hang Rockstar for it, as they always have, for providing violent adult entertainment.
Haven't these people ever heard of mods? They do them all the time in games. Heck, they have Sim mods which make them appear naked. Sims is innocent though, since it's only T rated and all that goes on is abuse of human beings by a real one! I've seen some pretty disturbing Neverwinter Nights mods as well, but I've never felt to need to see naked versions of very choppy looking COMPUTER GENERATED people.

Rather than only post my own long diatribe, I'm going to quote some people who have some common sense. This is from the Editorial section of my local newspaper. This makes it shorter, as I am weary of this.
I have an idea for those parents upset about the content of a video games rated for people 17 and older (ST July 9th): Don't buy those video games for your kids.
M.P. Holland, Bloomington.
Let me get this straight: There is an uproar because "Grand Theft Auto" - a video game that includes stealing cars at gunpoint, running down pedestrians, killing cops and beating up prostitutes and that carries a 17-plus rating - allows a player to view what a amounts to cartoon nudity?
Any parent who purchased this game for their child and lets them play it unsupervised should not be getting mad about a couple of pixilated breats.
And any member of the community who thinks that addressing this is more important than poverty, world hunger and genocide needs to seriously rethink his or her priorities.
Perter Fried, Minneapolis
The only other thing I'd like to add is, kids are probably seeing naked people much sooner than these parents think. There were certainly plenty of kids in my high school who'd seen a Playboy or even had sex, this was 14 years ago. Any parent deluding themselves into thinking that their teen ager is going to be changed by an unrealistic, and often times physically impossible game should be checking their child into a mental institution. One game isn't going to dictate the child's response to sex and violence. A strong parental support unit teaching the right way to treat people will in fact let them know this. It makes absolutely no difference if it's one parent, two, or whether the parents are straight or gay. This is a proven fact. How about some common sense, do they know what that is anymore?
- Don't give them the 50 dollars to spend on whatever they want.
- Don't let them go into the rental or game store alone. Don't put their name on your rental card as well if they're under 17.
- Let other parents know your children are not allowed to play M rated games.
- Pay attention to your child's things. If you don't trust them not to break the rules set up for them, then it is your right as a parent to keep an eye on the things in their rooms. Just as you would if you suspected them of hard drugs or depression.
This argument about media being a bad influence on children is so old I don't think I can even quote it's origin. They should title it, "Slow News Day."
Fox 9 News: Better remind parents GTA is at the fault of the degradation and downfall of society.
I thought that was people breeding who haven't fully grown up themselves, and letting the computer and television raise their child. You don't have this kind of time to pay attention to your child? You shouldn't have had one then!
Too many people having sex and not enough of them are seeding the future of our world economy with intelligent, happy, relatively social, well adjusted children.
I wrote this a few days ago not having any Internet access.
Since then Gamespot has delved into the PS2 version of the game, the DVD game disc of which cannot be tampered with or re-written like the PC game on a hard drive.
What does it matter if Rockstar put it in there or not? It's not the first porn in a game ever, it's not even the worst porn game ever. That, my friends, is what the Japanese do.
Make really bad Hentai games. With ANIMATED people. They're not exactly attractive looking in GTA especially. It's very simplistic art in fact, not even close to as realistic as games can be. Jebibbus.
About as realistic as it is to think I'd know how to fire a P90 from watching Stargate, or fire a sniper rifle from playing James Bond. I will have myself a laser watch, while you think the others are possible, please.
I saw plenty of rated R movies before I was 10 years of age. I'm not out side with a shotgun shooting people up, or disrespect myself as such to sleep around. When the hell are parents going to stop pointing fingers and being so blind and naive about reality? I believe that will be as soon as they stop allowing people with the I.Q. of a blueberry scone to have children.

And why are we singling out the blueberry scone here? Why not the raisin scone? What's with this unseemly anti-blueberry sentiment?
I just woke up and have an extremely long day ahead of me. Sorry.

It pisses me off. Why can't people take blame for themselves and instead point their fingers at others. They still act like it is the 1950s. Grow up parents and learn that children are not as innocent as they once were.

As far as I'm concerned, if the bloody game says it's rated for MATURE audiences, kids shouldn't be able to buy it or be allowed to play it without guidance... The parents should be punished and the retailer should be fined (unless it was the parents who bought it, then the parents should eat the fine as well). The responsibility chain doesn't go any further than that.
Incidentally, you mean that I can't just aim roughly at something and wait for the little green bar on the side of my sniper scope to disappear to make a perfect head shot from a mile away? Damn!
I think someone peed in the gene pool...

It's too little too late at this point. There are plenty of parents who even when told right up front that it's M rated let their children buy it anyway. If often takes the magic word "hooker" for them to say no, often times it is the mother that balks at this not the father. Realistic blood and gore does not phase most of them.
I refuse to take responsibility for childrenw which are not mine. It's not up to me to judge how mature a teenager is. My younger cousin played GTA since he was sixteen, he is perfectly respecful toward women and doesn't like guns in reality. I never gave him any games which were above the T rating until he was seventeen. I left it to my uncle to decide on the others, simple as that.
There are some 16 year olds of which I cannot say the same. It should be the parents who KNOW their children best paying better attention and using these guides which are quite clearly laid out for them.
They're games, not cigarettes or alchohol. One round of running people over in a game won't get you killed from wanting to copy it or make you want to murder a real hooker.
It's a line of bullshit when a child blames a game for giving them ideas about right and wrong. The last time I did that I was FOUR, jumping from bed to bed pretending I could fly like Wonder Woman.

I believe it simply comes down to some parents not caring what their children do. Whether it's because they're "too busy" or whatever they just don't want to (or have the ability to) take the time out to keep up with their kids.
The really sad thing about this is that it's a small number of incidents like this that give the entire industry a bad name...
I don't think I'm making sense anymore, so I'm going to shut up now...
